Examples of common magical thinking OCD:

  • What if my thoughts & rituals can make things happen (good & bad)?

  • I must not think or picture something bad about my family otherwise I might make it happen

  • If I have a bad thought then I must clap my hands three times in a row to make everything OK again

  • Things/numbers need to be perfectly even & balanced otherwise something bad will happen?

The rules and rituals morph & grow over time, to the point where we become overwhelmed by them. This is why we need help from someone who has been where we are now.
